Fuel stations urged to prioritise exam staff

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha requested the public and filling station staff to provide priority to GCE Ordinary Level Examination staff and candidates when obtaining fuel at filling stations.

He was addressing media yesterday at the Government Information Department with the Examinations Commissioner General.

The GCE Ordinary Level Examination 2021/2022 will commence today and continue till June 1.

He urged the staff on duty at filling stations to give priority to Ordinary Level examination staff when susubmitting service identity card and examination duty letter. He requested to give priority to candidates also who produce the examination admission card.

Minister Premajayantha added that all the Officers In Charge of police stations countrywide have been informed through the IGP to co-ordinate this process.

“There are around 25,000 examination staff deployed to the examination duties at 3,844 examination centres. Of them each filling station of 1,190 total will receive around 10 to 15 examination staffers for fuel and it is a minute number,” he said.

Considering the present transport difficulties candidates who fail to report to examination centres will be considered sympathetically, Examinations Commissioner General L.M.D. Dharmasena said.

The Public Utilities Commission announced that there won’t be power cuts during the examination period. Accordingly there will be uninterrupted power supply from today until June 1.
