The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) said yesterday that it would launch a countrywide strike commencing August 3 if the government failed to sort out issues such as the Sri Lanka-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, by the end of the current week,
GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said his union had already discussed the matter with President Maithripala Sirisena and the Health authorities. He said the executive committee of the GMOA had already taken a decision on the planned trade union action.
Dr. Aluthge said the medical administration was deteriorating due to ad hoc Cabinet papers and the government acting in violation of the doctors’Service Minute.
