With Christmas dawn approaching in a few hours, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne, issued a special directive to enforce special security arrangments near Catholic churches and other places of worship this evening.
Police have been deployed to provide special security to churches around the island conducting Christmas services both today (24) and tomorrow (25).
The special security measures will be continuously in place throughout today and tomorrow as per the IGP’s instructions and these will be monitored by the Police Headquarters, said DIG Ajith Rohana.
