The police conducting investigations into the shooting of Minister and Kabir Hashim’s Coordinating Secretary (CS) Mohamed Naslim will conduct a forensic examination of the mobile phones network to identify the culprits behind the conspiracy, according to the police.
A group has attempted to assassinate the Minister of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development Kabir Hashim’s Coordinating Secretary Mohamed Naslim, living in Mawanella Udagammana on the 9th March.
Police said that two persons who came on a black motorbike had fled after shooting Mr. Naslim in the head while he was asleep at his home. His wife and his youngest son were also at home at the time the shooting took place.
According to the police, the gunman has come with another person on a motorbike and entered the house through the back door of the house which had been kept open. It has been recorded on the CCTV cameras at the premises.
Naslim’s wife has told the police that the back door was kept open because their goats were being stolen in the night and he kept the door open so he can quickly get out of the house to catch the thieves.
However, according to a senior police officer, it is suspicious that Naslim, who has a close relationship with the police, had never mentioned about his goats are getting stolen, nor made any complaint in that regard to Mawanella Police or any other police station.
Therefore, the official said telephones of Naslim’s family memebrs will also be subjected to the forensic mobile phone examination.
The 37-year-old father of three, who was seriously injured in the shooting, is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of The Kandy general Hospital. However, the doctors have said that there is no risk of death since the shot to the head did not injure his brain.
