Security forces had opened fire on a tractor in Palavi area in Kodikamam, Jaffna last night (21).
The suspects on the vehicle had defied orders in a raid carried out on information received regarding sand smuggling, forcing the security forces to open fire at the wheel of the tractor causing the suspects to flee.
The tractor has been taken into Army custody while several teams have been deployed to search for the suspects, said Kodikamam security forces.
