President Ranil Wickremesinghe has submitted a Cabinet paper to appoint a committee to conduct threat assessments on Presidential candidates and former Presidents.
The President has made the proposal in view of ensuring candidate safety during the upcoming Presidential polls.
In his proposal, President Wickremesinghe has suggested the appointment of a Deputy Inspector General of Police to oversee security arrangements, the President’s Media Division said. (Newswire)
