The majority party in Sri Lanka’s unity government, United National Party says it has implemented a decisive strategy to counter corrupt individuals who take undue advantage of state institutions for personal benefit.
Issuing a special statement, Chairman of the UNP, Minister Malik Samarawickrama said while making the law enforceable against the perpetrators, all efforts have been taken to curb fraud and corruption.
He said steps have already been taken to implement necessary legal action against persons involved in the controversial Treasury Bond issuance in 2015 apprehending the director and the CEO of Perpetual Treasuries.
The statement said the arrest of Perpetual Treasuries owner Arjun Aloysius and CEO Kasun Palisena by the Criminal Investigation Department was a huge step forward.
Minister Samarawickrema said the UNP is committed towards good governance and bringing an end to the regime of fraud and corruption that prevailed during the previous administration.
