President Maithripala Sirisena says that the power struggle between the unity government and opposition needs to stop with immediate effect.
Addressing the opening session of the second session of parliament, Sirisena said that the continuous struggle between the two factions has resulted in the suffering of the people.
The President noted that all public representatives needed to work according to a common agenda.
He also observed that action needs to be taken against those who are corrupt without making it a political with hunt.
Sirisena further noted that while there has been many criticisms about the formation of a unity government, it has managed to achieve many victories and relief for the people.
