Sri Lanka Police have arrested a 49-year-old male teacher from an International School in Gampaha.
The suspect who has been identified as the IT teacher of the school had abused the female student while inside a vehicle that was parked at a car park in the Kimbulawala Junction in Thalangama.
According to the Police, the student had wanted to purchase educational books which would help her migrate to England where her aunt is currently residing.
The suspect had volunteered to help the student obtain the books for a cheaper price in Colpetty and had taken her to Colombo with her mother’s knowledge under the guise of helping her.
The suspect had sexually abused the child while inside the vehicle, a three-wheeler driver nearby had witnessed the incident and had informed the Police.
The victim was admitted to the Mulleriyawa Hospital for a medical examination where it was ascertained that she had been sexually abused.
