Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando said the construction of the Pothuhera- Galagedara stretch of the Central Expressway, spanning 32.5km, will commence prior to the end of this year.
Rs. 40 billion has been allocated to acquire land and provide compensation to owners of the acquired land for the construction of the expressway. The allocated fund is the highest amount to be set aside for payment of compensation, he said.
He added saying that the construction work on the Ruwanpura Expressway, spanning 74 km, will commence before 15 .01.2021.
