Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella says that the required number of vaccines to administer the third dose has been ordered.
The Minister further stated that as plans to administer the third dose are already drawn, the Ministry of Health will begin administering the third dose soon.
The Director General of Health, Dr. Asela Gunawardena previously said that those with cancer and kidney diseases, alongside persons who have undergone surgeries will be administered a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine, which will be the Pfizer vaccine.
