Vavuniya police has apprehended an individual, who had been transporting 19 kg of Kerala Cannabis.
The arrest has been made at the Vavuniya train station yesterday (16) following a tip-off received by the police.
The suspect had been arrested at the Vavuniya train station after arriving at the station via a train commuting from Jaffna to Colombo.
The seized stock of Kerala Cannabis is valued at nearly Rs 2.2 million, according to the police.
Reportedly, the suspect is a 24-year-old youth residing in Maharambakulam area in Vavuniya.
Het is to be produced before the Vavuniya Magistrate’s Court and Vavuniya police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
