The Chief Incumbent of the Mapalagama Vidyathilaka Pirivena in Nagoda police division has been murdered, the police said.
The police further said that a layman who was servant in the same temple is suspected to have committed the murder of the Chief Incumbent of the temple, Ven Mapalagama Gunasiri Thera.
Police investigations have revealed that the reason for the murder was an argument over money got out of control.

The police say the murder has been committed between 8 pm Tuesday and 5 am today and the suspect has fled the area.
Nagoda police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspect.
