The United National Party says the No-Confidence Motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the government will be defeated without a doubt.
Speaking at a media briefing at the UNP headquarters Sirikotha, Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardene said if any Minister within the government were to vote in support of the No-Confidence Motion, they must tender their resignation from their post with immediate effect the very next day.
MP Jayawardene stressed even though certain Ministers of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party representing the government have made statements on the No Confidence Motion the stance of the majority is still unclear.
He noted the Motion was filed against the government adding therefore members of the government should be committed towards protecting the government.
The MP noted reforms within the United National Party will commence from the 5th of April onwards.
He said the United National Party has appointed three reforms committees.
MP Jayawardene stated the first committee was appointed under Minister Sajith Premadasa to asses and propose reforms for the good governance government.
The Parliamentarians stressed Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka also tabled a proposal before the Cabinet of Ministers adding all recommendations and proposals will be considered.
He said the second committee which he is a member of, is headed by State Minister Ruwan Wijewardene and will asses and propose reforms within the party adding the committee has already tabled a 9 page report to the Prime Minister.
Accordingly the Parliamentarian said the third committee is headed by Deputy Minister JC Alawathuwala and its report consists of recommendations made by party organisers.
MP Jayawardene noted two out of three reports have already been presented to the Prime Minister, and he believes the other report has also been presented.
MP Kavinda Jayawardene stressed the party will discuss the content of the reports and party reforms will be initiated by the 5th of April.
