Minister Wijesekera said that the government of Sri Lanka must make a payment for the first two shipments of fuel.

As it has proven difficult to find the necessary vessels, a decision has been taken to split the shipment of petrol into two consignments of 30,000 and 20,000 MT each and transport it via two small ships, he explained.

The Minister said that the government hopes to finalize the deal soon as possible to obtain the necessary fuel.
