The former Presidential Coordinating Secretary and de facto Foreign Minister under President Mahinda Rajapaksa has returned to the SLFP.
Sajin Vaas Gunawardena has been appointed as the SLFP organizer for the key district of Matara.
Mr Gunawardene’s hometown is Ambalangoda – he has marked his time busying himself with defending several cases which some described as being politically motivated at the insistence of members of the Rajapaksa inner circle who even in defeat have felt that SAJIN VAAS was a political threat considering his well publicized organizational skills.

Mr Gunawardena was unavailable for comment although his office confirmed his appointment noting that President Maithripala Sirisena as leader of the SLFP had made the decision.
