The Minister of Foreign Affairs has responded to media reports which claimed veteran actor Bandu Samarasinghe has been appointed as Sri Lanka’s Consular General in Milan, Italy.
The Lankadeepa Newspaper yesterday reported that the veteran actor has been appointed to the diplomatic post in Milan, Italy.
Sri Lanka’s Consulate General position in Milan got vacant after musician Neela Wickremasinghe passed away earlier this year while serving in the position.
Responding to the report, Minister of Foreign Affairs Professor G.L. Peiris said no decision has been taken as yet to appoint veteran actor Bandu Samarasinghe as Sri Lanka’s Consular General in Milan.
Issuing a clarification on the Lankadeepa report, the Minister said that the veteran actor’s name has only been proposed for the position.
Minister G. L. Peiris reiterated that a final decision has not been taken as yet on his appointment.
