Brazil’s Covid-19 death toll exceeds 500,000 as thousands of protestors rally against Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s pandemic response and calling for his removal.
Over the past week,Brazilhas averaged 2,000 deaths per day.
Speaking to Reuters, the former head of the Brazilian health regulator A visa said that the country might reach 700,000 or 800,000 deaths before they see the effects of the vaccination.
He criticised far-right President Jair Bolsonaro’s handling of the pandemic, including the lack of a coordinated national response and his scepticism toward vaccines, lockdowns and mask-wearing requirements, which he has sought to loosen.
