A group of SLFP Ministers including SLFP General Secretary, Minister Duminda Dissanayake and UPFA General Secretary, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera have told Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and a group of UNP seniors to forget the past and commence a new journey from the New Year.
The group of SLFPers included the MPs who abstained from voting on the no confidence motion against the Prime Minister.
Dissanayake has noted that other political forces would become powerful if the UNP and SLFP are divided.
He has added that the UNP should also work towards meeting the SLFP halfway without adopting hard line stances.
The Prime Minister along with several UNP leaders later met with the group of SLFP MPs yesterday evening to discuss the current political crisis.
During this meeting, Dissanayake has pointed out that the UNP also needed to look at its members in parliament who were prepared to vote in favour of the no confidence motion if the party was adopting hard line stances on SLFP MPs.
