Government has focused attention towards recruitment of candidates who pass the GCE Advanced Level Examinations, in any stream, to Nursing.
According to the Health Ministry, candidates will be recruited from the Northern and Eastern provinces. Current shortage of nursing staff has been disrupting hospital activities.
The Ministry noted that the shortage of nursing staff is prevalent in the Colombo district as well and that nurses are less willing to work in the Northern and Eastern provinces and in the Colombo district.
