Three individuals are reported to have drowned in several areas in Welikanda and Marawila.
According to the police, two people who went to bathe in the Katuneriya beach and another in the Aselapura wewa in Welikanda have died.
Meanwhile, police rescue officers have rescued two youngsters who were battling a water current while bathing in the Nilaveli beach.
