The number of Dengue patients reported from the Puttalam district has shown a rapid rise, according to health authorities.
According to the Puttalam Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr. R. Nagulanadan, 45 patients were diagnosed with Dengue within a course of a day – yesterday – November 12.
He added that 145 patients are currently receiving in-house treatment, and that four patients had lost their lives recently due to the mosquito-borne disease.
Director General of Health services, Dr. Jayasundara Bandara states that with the inter monsoon condition, the spread of Dengue in Puttalam seems to be on the rise.
He further stated that he expects the assistance of the people to control Dengue mosquitoes in the area.
