The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) working committee decided to field its leader Sajith Premadasa as its candidate for the next presidential election.
SJB senior Sujeewa Senasinghe said the proposal was unanimously approved by the working committee.
The party decided to back a Constitutional amendment which would enable the President to declare a snap presidential poll.
