SLFP Central Committee to take a decision on no-confidence motion against PM

Minister of Labor and Trade Union Relations and Sabaragamuwa Province Development WDJ Seneviratne says the decision on whether the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will support the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be taken at the Central Committee meeting of the party.

Addressing the media after an event in Colombo on Wednesday, the Minister said the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe moved by the joint opposition will be taken up for debate in parliament on April 4 and a vote will be taken.

He said that regardless of what the SLFP ministers say, the SLFP as a party has not yet made a decision whether to support the JO’s motion against the Premier or not.

“The most important factor is the public’s opinion in the country at this time and we have to consider that when making the decision,” he said.

“From the last local government election results we felt that the activities of the unity government should be changed. We will take into consideration all these and take the decision of the SLFP at the Central Committee meeting which will take place tomorrow or day after,” the Minister said.
