Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission inquiry into Kandy religious clashes to begin today

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka will hold an inquiry from 9 – 12 May, 2018 in Kandy on violent incidents based on religious hatred that took place in Kandy District in March 2018.

The Chairperson Dr. Deepika Udagama and Commissioners will conduct the inquiry.

The HRCSL earlier said the investigation will be conducted by virtue of their powers vested under the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka Act No.21 of 1996.

Prior to the inquiry, as the initial step of the investigation, the Commission called for written submissions and evidence from the public regarding the incidents.
