Sri Lanka: No Unattended Parking At BIA

In response to growing concerns about traffic congestion at the arrivals terminal of Bandaranaike International Airport, a set of new regulations has been implemented.

These measures aim to streamline vehicle movement, enhance passenger convenience, and maintain efficient airport operations.

Engineer Atula Galkatiya, Chairman of the Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka (Private) Ltd, emphasized that parking vehicles without the driver present is strictly prohibited within the arrivals terminal area.

This rule applies to all types of vehicles, including private cars, taxis, and rental vehicles.

All vehicles must enter the arrivals terminal area exclusively from designated parking lots, at the appropriate time for pickup.

To discourage non-compliance, a special fee will be imposed on individuals who operate vehicles in defiance of the order.

This fee applies particularly to those causing unnecessary traffic congestion for more than 30 minutes, even if the driver is present.
