The newly appointed UNP politburo is to meet shortly to decide on the appointment of office bearers to the party. The office bearers are to be appointed before April 30th.
Accordingly, new individuals are to be named as party leader, deputy leader, assistant leader, chairman and general secretary.
The 12 member politburo consists of Ruwan Wijewardena, Harin Fernando, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Navin Dissanayake, J.C. Alawathuwala, Mangala Samaraweera, Nalin Bandara, Eran Wickremaratna, Sajith Premadasa, Ravi Karunanayake and Ajith P. Perera.
