Sri Lanka’s political crisis was precipitated by President Maithripala Sirisena’s decision to sack Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and appoint former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his place in violation of the Constitution. The crisis further deepened as a result of President’s decision to prorogue the parliament until November 16.
