President Maithripala Sirisena has called an urgent Cabinet meeting for today, despite the absence of several top ministers including the Prime Minister, local media reported.
Although the weekly Cabinet meeting was held on Tuesday (11) as usual, the President has decided to call an urgent Cabinet meeting this afternoon.
Several ministers are currently away from the country as most of them are on official visits overseas.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe and Minister Malik Samarawickrama are attending the ASEAN Economic Forum in Vietnam while ministers Sagala Ratnayake and Nimal Siripala de Silva are also reportedly abroad.
