Sri Lanka’s 50 AI-Native Products to Watch in 2026

Sri Lanka’s artificial intelligence industry is entering a new phase. Beyond experimentation with generative AI, a growing number of local companies and founders are building products where artificial intelligence is central to the product itself.

Ceylon Independent conducted a review of Sri Lanka’s emerging AI-native product ecosystem to identify 50 products that stand out in areas including technology, product maturity, local relevance, innovation and potential scalability.

The research covered products across legal technology, financial intelligence, healthcare, agriculture, education, commerce, media, cybersecurity, creative technology and AI infrastructure.

How Ceylon Independent assessed the products

The assessment considered seven dimensions:

  • AI-native intensity — 25%
  • Product maturity — 20%
  • Sri Lankan differentiation — 15%
  • Technology and IP depth — 15%
  • Market and adoption evidence — 10%
  • International scalability — 10%
  • AI ecosystem presence — 5%

The scores are Ceylon Independent Research scores, based on publicly available information and the research team’s assessment. They are not company valuations, financial ratings, market-share measurements or investment recommendations.

Beyond Chatbots

The research indicates that Sri Lanka’s AI ecosystem is becoming increasingly specialised.

Local developers are applying AI to areas ranging from legal research and financial intelligence to medical diagnosis, crop monitoring, aquaculture, education, commerce, media and cybersecurity.

This is significant because the competitive advantage of many AI products may increasingly come from their access to specialised local data, domain knowledge, language capabilities and industry-specific workflows rather than from the underlying foundation model alone.

Sri Lanka’s multilingual environment also provides an important development opportunity. Products working with Sinhala, Tamil, Singlish and localised datasets can address requirements that global AI products may not fully serve.

What comes next

The presence of 50 AI-native products does not by itself establish the size or commercial strength of Sri Lanka’s AI industry. Many of these products remain at different stages of development, while others are already pursuing commercial markets.

The next phase will likely be defined by user adoption, recurring revenue, proprietary data, enterprise deployments, export markets and the ability to build sustainable businesses around AI.

For now, the 2026 Ceylon Independent ranking provides a snapshot of a rapidly developing sector—and evidence that Sri Lankan entrepreneurs are increasingly moving from using AI to building products around it.
