The Wattala Police arrested three individuals who were engaged in robberies while posing as Police officers, Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said.
The trio has reportedly impersonated Police officers and has stolen gold jewellery from innocents by handcuffing them and taking them to a secluded area.
The suspects have been identified as residents of Kurunegala and Sedawatta.
While the Police have received 17 other reports of similar incidents, the fake identity cards used by the impostors have been seized by law enforcement authorities, the Police Media Spokesperson noted.
