India provides dry rations for low-income groups in SL

Continuing its outreach to the people of the Northern Province to address their necessities through humanitarian assistance programmes, India is providing dry rations to low-income people of the province.

Indian Consul General Raakesh Natraj along with MP Selvam Adaikalanathan and Mullaitivu Government Agent K. Vimalanathan flagged off the distribution of 250,000 kg of rice and 2,250 kg of milk powder meant for Mullaitivu, at the District Secretariat.

This assistance will benefit close to 28,000 families in the Mullaitivu district alone. In the near future, distribution of assistance will commence in other districts of the Northern Province.

As part of this Indian assistance, thousands of families belonging to low-income groups as well as pregnant women will benefit. This is part of the Government of Tamil Nadu’s assistance to the people of Sri Lanka, comprising 40,000 MT of rice and 500 MT of milk powder, which will be distributed across the island shortly.
