Specialist in community medicine, Dr. Manuj Weerasinghe says the official Covid-19 figures are inaccurate and the cases in the community are thrice the amount that’s reported.
Asymptomatic patients and those unaccounted for during the daily count can unknowingly spread the virus while going through their day to day life, gradually increasing the number of infected patients, Dr. Weerasinghe added.
He noted that the estimate is made use the same method globally.
Meanwhile, 3,676 Covid-19 infected patients were reported in Sri Lanka today (18 Aug).
