Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe left the commission building a short while ago.The premier arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry earlier this morning as he was summoned to testify before the commission into the alleged Bond Scam.
The premier’s name was mentioned several times at the commission, while he himself defended the then- CBSL Governor Arjuna Mahendran soon after the alleged Bond Scam took place.
According to the PM’s office, given the reasons that his name was used from time to time at the commission, he was willing to testify before of the commission at any time.
Prior to this, a questionnaire was put forth to the PM by the commission, and the answers were established through an affidavit.
The PM was yet asked to appear before the commission due to a need of clarification and other testimonials.
PM Wickremesinghe was escorted by nearly 30 parliamentarians and ministers.
