Postmortem reveals minor employed at MP’s house was sexually exploited

A 16-year-old girl who was employed at MP Rishadh Bathiudeen’s house had succumbed to her injuries while she was being treated at the National Hospital.

A bottle of Kerosine oil and a lighter had been found during an investigation, the Police said.

The postmortem conducted on the body revealed signs of chronic vaginal penetration.

The postmortem report confirming sexual exploitation of the victim will be produced in the courts on Monday (19 July), Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) Ajith Rohana.

The man who had escorted the girl from Diyagama to MP Bathiudeen’s house for employment has been summoned before the Borella Police to record a statement today (17) while the In-laws of MP Bathiudeen recorded statements before the Borella Police on Sunday (18 July).

The  Borella Police and the Children and Women Bureau of the Sri Lanka Police are conducting further investigations into the death.

The body of the victim was brought to her residence in Diyagama yesterday (18).
