The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) requests the public to sort the garbage in a recommended manner and provide it to the relevant garbage disposal vehicles.
Issuing a statement, the CMC said people in the city have been informed of the requirement to sort the garbage but it is not happening properly. Accordingly, the public was informed to sort the garbage before handing over for disposal and strict punishment will be imposed for failing to sort the waste.
The CMC also said that the law will be strictly enforced against those who dispose waste illegally on the streets.
