Two officers of Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) arrested for the Central Bank bond scam will be produced as state witnesses, the State Counsel told the court today.
When the case was called before the Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today, State Counsel informed the court that Chief Dealer Nuwan Thilina Salgado and Chief Technical Officer Sachin Dewathantri of PTL have agreed to assist the state’s investigations and they will be produced in court as state witnesses in the future.
The Criminal Investigation Department informed the court today that Chief Technical Officer Sachithra Dewanthiri and Chief Marketing Executive Nuwan Thilina Salgado had been arrested for deleting the data on the records of telephone conversations made and received by the company.
The State requested the court to release the two suspects on bail since they are assisting the government.
Accordingly, the Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered the two suspects to be released on a personal bail of Rs. 300,000 each.
The Magistrate also imposed an overseas travel ban on the suspects and ordered to impound their passports.
Since the suspects, Sachithra Dewanthiri and Nuwan Thilina Salgado could not meet their bail requirements today, they were remanded until tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the two main suspects of the bond scam former director of Perpetual Treasuries Arjun Aloysius and Chief Executive Officer Kasun Palisena were further remanded until 9th August.
