JVP Parliamentarian Nalinda Jayatissa says it is the duty of the present government to formulate a strong mechanism against crime and corruption, according to the public mandate they received.
MP Jayatissa noted a majority of patriots are those charged with crime and corruption.
Speaking during the Parliamentary debate on the Commissions of Inquiry Amendment Bill the Parliamentarian stressed the public does not have any faith in the existing system to act against fraud and corruption.
He said when an individual was summoned to the bribery commission following the 2015 Presidential Election many protests were conducted against the move.
MP Jayatissa reiterated those who represent the country as patriots and engage in efforts to promote religion are resorting to such measures in order to conceal their involvement in fraud and corruption.
The Parliamentarian also said the government should do justice to the people’s mandate by taking prompt action against fraud and corruption.
